A Practical Professor

My dear Slytherin students,

While I do not believe in punishing a group for the actions of one, I do think that the increased concentration of rule-breaking in our house is something we should ALL be concerned with. Our reputation is questionable at times as it is and to further perpetuate the stereotypes associated with our noble house seems like a crime.

As for the purpose behind this post, I would like to remind all my students that you are, indeed, at a SCHOOL, which means that certain rules and regulations must be adhered to. If you would like a reminder of what those rules might be, I will be more than happy to provide you with the literature required for that.

Frankly, I would greatly appreciate it if our house could go a week with out some form of scandal being called to the attention of the school. Should our house continue to fall into such disgrace as we have been doing as of late, then I will be forced to take action.

Well, as some of you may have noticed a few professors have decided that make-up work is in order to get you where you need to be in your education. I myself have decided this is a wise idea and will be holding tutoring sessions on Saturday as well. Times will be posted outside my office for those interested in attending. And do not fret, I have discussed the times with some of the other professors so there should not be any schedule conflict. So, no, you cannot use that as an excuse.

Good news for you all. The Heads, including myself, have decided that perhaps we should recognize and consider rewarding those students who behaved admirably in the incident this past week. I have a few students already in mind, based on what I heard, but if you would like to ensure that someone is praised please inform me straight away.

Contrary to popular belief, I know not all of you acted rashly and for idiotic reasons in the event.

Due to recent updatees, Luxord's last name for Squarewarts is now Holmes.

If you are his student please refer to him as Professor Holmes from now on. That is all.

If you don't know the drill by now you are clearly thicker than a rock. I'll make it simple. If you aren't currently trapped in the rubble that was the library, you should be on your way to the Great Hall. If you should encounter a certain fomer Slytherin ghost by the name of Belladonna you are NOT to engage her. In fact, you should run in the OPPOSITE direction and hope to Merlin she doesn't catch you.

Look for a Professor if you can...I know a few of the staff are still in the halls working on gathering the stragglers.

It's times like these I sometimes consider stepping down as Head of House and returning to my travels. I hear the Caribbean is very nice this time of year.

However, before you get the wrong idea, I will not be doing so. After all, if it one thing I know, it's very unsportsmanlike to step away from a game before it is completely over.

In light of recent news, Arithmancy classes will be canceled.

While I do not particularly care for this new direction the school mascots are taking, if anyone of my house would like to submit a suggestion I am open to hearing them and your reasoning behind it.

However, it's going to take a bit more than "Professor! It's such a great idea! We'll be totally cool!" as an argument (though, I'm sure most of you are better than that). I rather like the way things are now, as a matter of fact, and don't particularly care to change them...especially if they are likely to go in the same direction as the others.

Still, I felt obligated to put this out there...should any of you be interested in such a thing.

I'm really hoping this is just a fad...

Ah, I do love this school. Never a dull moment.

And, for those of you curious, we ARE still having classes. We're going to see what the numbers have to say about our current conditions. Bring your charts.

Sometimes I truly hate my cat. I've been unable to locate my journal since the school year began and where do you suppose it was this entire time? Under my cat's pillow. Well, at least I finally found it I suppose. It's been rather difficult to keep up with appointments and assignments without it. Something, I'm sure, my students didn't mind but as long as I have it now the rest should take care of itself.

Hmm, you'd think since I've been without this for so long that I'd have more to write about. Ah well, perhaps more will come to mind later.
